I. The State of the U.S. Workforce -
In the early months of the pandemic, jobs declined by a staggering 22.2 million. The good news is that jobs recovery has been on the rise since February 2020. In July, the number of U.S. jobs finally reached and slightly surpassed the prepandemic level, with over 32,000 more Americans employed than in February 2020.1 After around 2.5 years, the jobs gap is completely gone, which is faster than it took to recover from the Great Recession. It took six years, from January 2008 to July 2014, for the labor market to recover from that financial crisis.
