What Caused the Xybion Corp.Data Breach?

The Xybion Corp. data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected soon. However, Xybion’s filing with the Attorney General of Massachusetts provides some important information on what led up to the breach. Xybion also posted a “Notice of Data Security Incident” on its website.

According to these sources, in September 2022, Xybion detected unauthorized access within its computer network. In response, Xybion contained the incident and then began working with outside cybersecurity professionals to investigate the incident and any potential impact on confidential information in the company’s possession.

The Xybion investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access its computer system. It was also determined that the bad actor was able to access certain files containing confidential consumer information.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Xybion Corp. reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. Xybion completed this process on November 20, 2023. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, date of birth, Social Security number, driver’s license number, state ID number, passport number, financial information, health insurance information, and medical information.

On November 30, 2023, Xybion Corp. sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
