Practice/Organization Description
We are a multidisciplinary consulting firm helping producers strategically and cost-efficiently comply with the extended producer responsibility (EPR) packaging and paper programs and other related programs on a nation-wide basis, including truth-in-labeling, bans on polystyrene, chemical additives in packaging, and PCR mandates. Collectively our principals have over 100 years of professional experience in the fields of law, public policy, chemistry, supply chain economics, and program leadership.
We have been actively engaged with the EPR programs since their inception. We attend Advisory Board meetings for each state, regulatory workshops, and the producer working group meetings hosted by Circular Action Alliance for clients who have executed the Participant Producer Agreement. We monitor and participate in the rule-making process, engage with stewardship and trade associations, and foster relationships with leaders in the field.
We have developed a pathway to compliance, starting with a Producer and Packaging Evaluation (PPE). The PPE is an organic document that can be modified to form the foundation for your company's compliance plan. The PPE evaluates your company' status as a producer and for what categories of packaging, identifies potential exclusions or exemptions, and flags issues that may need to be raised at the program level. The PPE can be supplemented with an evaluation of other covered materials, including food service ware and paper. After the PPE, we provide direction on what data must be collected and quantified and appropriate methodologies for reporting data to the producer responsibility organization ("PRO) on an annual basis. We help your company minimize their fees to the PRO through a Scoping Report that identifies avenues for fee minimization customized for each client. Throughout the process, we team with strategic partners as needed, including Environmental General Counsel, a California environmental law firm, and IR Global, an international professional network of financial, accountancy, and legal professionals around the globe.
Our clients are brand leaders in the consumer packaged goods industries, including food and beverage, confectionaries, nutritional supplements, personal care and beauty products, and others -- as well as producers in the packaging, agribusiness, and horticultural sectors.
