ONC Releases Updated Guide To Privacy And Security of Electronic Health Information ― The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (“ONC”) recently released Version 2.0 of the Guide to Privacy and Security of Electronic Health Information (the “Guide”).  The Guide is intended to help health care providers – particularly HIPAA covered entities and Medicare Eligible Professionals from smaller organizations – better understand how to integrate into their practices federal health information privacy and security requirements.  Version 2.0 of the Guide provides updated information regarding compliance with the Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record Incentive Programs’ privacy and security requirements as well as the HIPAA Privacy, Security and Breach Notification Rules.
