Recently there has been an increase in offers and notices from companies not associated with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office (PTO). While some of the companies sending these notices are legitimate, most are scammers sending official-looking correspondence with offers for with offers for legal services such as monitoring and renewal and for services and fees which are not needed. Some scammers have been spoofing PTO telephone numbers, falsely claiming to be the PTO, requesting unnecessary fees. 

If you receive any notices for patent or trademark for which Kaufman & Canoles are the attorneys of record, you may ignore them. Kaufman & Canoles has designated our email, address and phone number as the official correspondence address with the PTO on your behalf for such matters. The PTO will send all correspondence to us. We will forward any official documentation regarding for your patent and trademark matters that we receive from the PTO to you upon receipt.
