  • South Dakota – Following the impeachment of AG Jason Ravnsborg, Governor Kristi Noem has selected Pennington County State’s Attorney Mark Vargo as the next state AG. Vargo, who was the lead prosecutor in Ravnsborg’s impeachment trial, will serve until the AG election later this year, in which former AG Marty Jackley will serve as the Republican nominee. Jackley is currently running unopposed, although the Democratic convention will be held July 8-9 and a challenger could emerge there.
  • Illinois – Thomas DeVore has won the Republican nomination for the AG election. DeVore’s campaign is based on defense of the Second Amendment and strict ethics reform. He will face off against incumbent Democratic Illinois AG Kwame Raoul in the November general election.
  • Oklahoma – Gentner Drummond, a Tulsa attorney, defeated incumbent John O’Connor in the Republican primary. Drummond’s campaign focused on shutting down illegal marijuana grows, improving the state’s relationship with Native American tribes, and being independent from state Governor Kevin Stitt.
